To be a pilgrim

To be pilgrim is to be on a path of adventure, to move out of our comfort zones, to let go of our prejudices and preconditioning, to make strides towards the unknown. If we want to tread the pilgrim’s path, we need to go beyond ideas of good and evil, and to be dedicated to our quest – to  our natural calling.  We need to shed not just our unnecessary material possessions but also our burdens of fear, anxiety, doubt and worry; in this way we can find spiritual renewal and enter on the great adventure into the unknown. Paradoxically, being on a pilgrimage doesn’t necessarily mean travelling from one place to another – it means a state of mind, a state of consciousness, a state of fearlessness.

To be a pilgrim – Satish Kumar

I hope…

Humankind is at last realizing and developing a need to develop a balance between the physical quantity need and the spiritual quality need in order to stride into the future .

An approach that is often followed to spiritual development, is one of abstinence or reduction of material consumption. I feel that such an approach disregards the greatness that humankind has so far achieved in the physical arena and merely serves to atrophy the physical leg of existence in order to achieve balance. I rather want to propose an approach which recognizes the importance of the physical economy, but also seeks to extend our economic and value system to one which have the following characteristics:

  • maximum freedom of expression
  • maximum freedom of movement
  • maximum personal responsibility
  • maximum access to and distribution of information
  • maximum access to and distribution of energy
  • maximum access to and distribution of goods
  • recognition of the environment as a closed feedback system in which sustainability is necessary for the survival of humankind
  • recognition of a human as a closed feedback system in which the physical and spiritual have to interact in balanced way for the further development of humankind

I hope that this site will help to develop, support and encourage the practice of  the technologies, arts, systems and philosophies which support the above principles.  I hope that it contributes to transformation and the development of  a sustainable community on our beautiful planet.
